Business Builders Intensive Home Study Program Sessions

The Business Builders Intensive is an 8 week tele-class that will give you the skills to begin building your business:

  • Session 1: Leadership – Vision – Purpose:
    • Week 1 we begin by looking deeply at the company purpose and vision.  Being clear on your vision, your core purpose gives you the guidance you need and your staffs need to move your company forward.  Vision is created by leadership; in this session we will begin exploring who within your company are the leaders and how to harness their leadership energy.
    • How do you create a company that is good to work for?  That works in a good and sustainable way?  How can you make your company a good place to work and a good company for the world?
  • Session 2: Marketing 1– Attracting More Clients/Customers
    • Do you need more clients?  We will explore the benefits of marketing and different approaches to marketing – networking, marketing funnels, information marketing, creating free products/free reports.
    • Is your marketing not achieving what you want and need?  Do you feel like you are spinning your wheels and not moving?  We will work with you to get moving.    
  • Session 3: Marketing 2 - Creating Effective Marketing Plans & Making them work for you.
    • Effective marketing plans are only good if they are working.  We will continue to provide valuable information about creating and implementing an effective multi-faceted marketing plan.
    • Referral marketing, Keep in Touch Marketing, Information marketing.
  • Session 4: Operationalizing: Creating the systems to make your company operate smoothly
    • Creating systems that work and writing operational plans for your business provide you and your staff with a consistent framework to provide excellent service to your clients and customers.
    • Are you a one person shop or very small business and feel like I/we don’t need operational procedures that are written and documented?  Well, you do, you need to create a plan for operating for a couple of reasons – 1) you might expand and hire other staff that need to be clear on how your company works; 2) if you can’t work for some reason, and others take over, you want them to continue to do your business in the way that works and is your company’s way of doing busines.
  • Session 5: Strategy: Moving it all forward with focused intention and clear strategy
    • Having a clear plan that outlines your strategy for the upcoming year is essential to moving it all forward.  Create a plan that looks at your whole organization.  Learn techniques to involve others in the process, gain input and insight.  If it’s just you, create a plan that incorporates all of your different hats.  If you are a one person business you wear many hats: marketing; CEO; service provider; customer relations; and more….  Strategies need to be focused within the different positions or departments and then intentionally moved forward through a process of weekly and monthly steps taken forward.
  • Session 6: Coaching Staff for Success
    • We will teach you coaching skills that you can use with staff to enhance their performance.  Trying to manage people just doesn’t work well.  Supporting, coaching, being committed to their success as well as yours, motivates them and gets them working harder for you.  Communicating your vision, your values and the operating values that you have gives staff a roadmap.  Coaching gives them the support they need to get their job done.
    • We will look at different leadership models to use in your supervisory practice
    • We will talk about how to have down to earth “real conversations” with staff, that gets at their behavior and their choices, essentially the personal responsibility they have to their own success.
  • Session 7: Performance Appraisals that motivate
    • Performance appraisals are often dreaded by both managers and staff, but they could be an inspiring tool for enhancing performance and increasing productivity.  Learn how to create a plan that works and then how to hold people accountable to the plan.
    • Accountability is always the key.  Learn how to build in accountability and make the meetings fun and inspiring.  You don’t have to dread supervising staff.  Committed leaders and committed staff create extraordinary organizations.
  • Session 8: Finances: Creating Operational Budgets with clear targets and expenses.
    • Does your company have an operating budget that outlines your projected expenses and projected income for the upcoming year?  Or do you just have an accountant that does your books and taxes at the end of the year.  Budgets are a planning tool and an accountability tool.  How do you live within the budget?  Can a budget help you in planning your upcoming offerings?  Your income budget might look great, but is it realistic?  What are the categories that you should have?  How do you track it all?
